Diaphragmatic Breathing....it's not just for singers
In 1998, I began working with a voice coach in Denver who changed my vocal world. Not only did I learn vocal techniques that improved my singing voice, but breathing techniques and the physiology involved in vocal respiration. I studied with him (who I affectionately refer to as “Doc”) for approximately 8 years, and then trained through his program to become certified as a voice coach.
In our early years together, Doc would share about his experiences working with Olympic athletes in Colorado Springs, training them in respiratory techniques that improved their athletic performances.
I was fascinated!
I soon began to integrate his breathing techniques into my workouts and fitness routines. I recognized immediate results! I felt so euphoric after my first success with the breathing technique on the treadmill that I told my friends I was ready for the Olympics!
Fast forward to now, more than 13 years after receiving my certification from Doc. I have enjoyed working with countless vocalists, hoping to give them even a spark of what Doc gave to me, and encouraging them to integrate the breathing technique into their exercise routines as well.
When the COVID pandemic hit in early 2020, I was blessed to have a dance partner turned good friend who is an award-winning personal trainer. We joined together in our workouts, finding a perfect outdoor space and challenging each other to stay fit. During an early morning warm-up jog, the subject of breathing techniques for athletes began. This conversation continues...
We have connected as colleagues to combine his exercise physiology experience with my diaphragmatic breathing training to bring an awareness to people about the overwhelming benefits of conscious breathing.
I’ve always wanted to follow in Doc’s footsteps and use my training to help athletes jumpstart their performance, which is one of the seminars we are currently researching and developing. But what I am even more excited about is how much scientific data we have discovered that proves the benefits of conscious breathing to EVERYONE'S overall health.
We started training seminars in the Fall of 2020, and we have several more scheduled, including the 2021 Fitness Festival in Phoenix Arizona, to share not only the data we have collected, but to teach the conscious breathing techniques for preventative health maintenance.
We are hosting seminars on a regular basis and would love it if you would join us!

What you learn will change your perspective on health!
