Cheri has been a resident of Fort Collins, Colorado since 1983 and involved in music since her childhood.
She holds a degree in music from Colorado State University, and a certification in the European Costal Method of vocal pedagogy from the Colorado Academy of the Arts in Denver, where she spent 10 years under the tutelage of Dr. L. Scott Martin. She has been teaching piano since 1990, and voice since 2008. In addition to performing over the years, she has attended several seminars and workshops on performance and live music production.
Cheri teaches rock, pop, country, musical theater and classical. Her goals are to help her students develop vocal technique for optimal health, to gain an understanding of how to approach the various vocal genres, and to become the most effective singers they can be.
Voice lessons are $50 for a 60-minute session, and $25 for a 30-minute session.
Piano: Piano provides the most thorough training in music. A pianist learns to play both melody and harmony and can play solo without any accompaniment. It trains the musician in both treble and bass clefs and provides a solid foundation in music theory.
Cheri began her piano training at the age of five, and has more than twenty five years of experience teaching piano. Rooted in classical training, the piano curriculum includes notation reading, chord symbols, and comprehensive music theory.
While some music is selected within the curriculum to build a solid foundation of musical knowledge, students are encouraged to take the lead in the choice of the musical genre they are interested in playing.
Students of all ages and abilities are welcome!
